- Before you even begin your application process and whatever you have to ask yourself why are you going to grad school? If you don’t have a reason for going, then it may not be necessary for you.
- Find out who’s teaching there.
- Find out what their alumni are doing.
- If it’s in your area then attend their open studio nights. That way you can meet their current students and ask questions about the program. You can also look at their work and see if you like it or not.
When it comes to grad school it all depends on what you’re going for. I’m not saying it’s worth it or not but if you’re going for fine arts I think the only thing that they can really do for you is get you a teaching job. Other than that it’s basically your last opportunity to get noticed as an artist. The only way you’re going to show people that you’re a serious artist is to keep making work.
