The two artists I really follow deeply these days and who really inspire me to keep painting are Justin Bua and, as you may already know, Mike Godard. They are doing something extremely interesting. Their work has led them to come up with their own brand of food and drinks.
You may all know Mike Godard for his illustrations of olives drinking and gambling. His subjects are based on bar scenes in general and are very humorous. Well, all of that has led Mike Godard to create his own brand of gin and vodka called “Pay Dirt Brands.” It all makes a great connection with his art. You can find out more about it at http://www.michaelgodardspirits.com/index.php
As for Justin Bua, you all know him for his illustrations of street culture and the African American community, and he was the first artist to start his own online art school. Being a vegan and health advocate, he recently invented his own chocolate bar called “The Bua Bar.” He describes it as “a raw, organic chocolate bar for people with old-school tastes and new-school sensibilities.”Man what a great way to make your mark in the art world!
Being a successful artist nowadays requires more than just making the art itself. And I think it’s amazing that some artists out there are really discovering what else they’re all about besides art and how their art is helping them discover just that. It’s getting me to brainstorm some ideas on something similar that I can do to promote myself as an artist (Maybe Nick Byron Art Cupcakes?)
